- Social Event - Illustrated Talk at the Topax
Hotel, Bugibba entitled "The
History of Leprosy in the Maltese Islands" by Chev. Prof. C.
Savona-Ventura KLJ OMLJ. The event was followed by a social
gathering for an informal dinner at the Hotel.

|
General Meeting
for the members of the Grand Priory of the Maltese Islands and the
Commandery of Gozo to
discuss the re-amalgamation of this jurisdiction to the main branch
managed by
the Duke of Seville held at Torri Lanzun. The event was followed by a
reception at the Torri.

|
Musical-Literary
Soiree with an illustrated lecture entitled "The Order of St. Lazarus in the Holy
Land" by Chev. Prof. C. Savona-Ventura, followed by a selection
of hit-songs "Evergreens from the
fifties & sixties" sung by Mrs MarieTherese Vassallo OLJ and
artistes from Voice Studio held at Torri Lanzun. A monetary donation
was also given to the Special Rescue Group - St. Lazarus Corps in aid
of their purchasing new first aid training manuals.

| 23rd June
|
The
activity organized on the 23rd June was held at St. George’s Basilica
in Victoria, Gozo. This marked the formal presentation and blessing of
the newly-restored oil painting of St Lazarus being raised from the
dead by Jesus which in the early decades of the 17th century served as
the titular painting to the altar dedicated to the saint. The
restoration had been commissioned by the Grand Priory and carried out
by the
Gozitan art restorer Mr. Godwin Cutajar. The presentation was preceded
by the Celebration of Holy Mass with accompanying hymns by members of
the Laudate Pueri Choir. The Event was held under the distinguished
patronage of H.E. Mons. Mario Grech – Bishop of Gozo and The Hon.
Giovanna Debono – Minister for Gozo. After light refreshments at the
Basilica, several Grand Priory’s members enjoyed an informal lunch at
Xlendi.

| 10th August
|
The
Grand Priory obtained rights to mirror for download an ebook entitled "A CareGiver's Guide" published by
the Grand Priory of Canada.  A
number of hard copies of this book
have
been donated to the National Libraries [Malta & Gozo] and the
University Medical Science Libraries [Medical School and
Institute of
Health Care]. This
book provided family caregivers with the medical and
nursing information they will need to support their loved ones in
clear, easily understood language. The ebook can be downloaded from the
Grand Priory publications webpage.

The Grand
Priory
organized a pleasant Pasta Evening for its members at a
reserved space of the pool at the Topaz Hotel in
Bugibba. A trully enjoyable evening of "Wine, Pasta & Song".

| 24th
November |
An Investiture Ceremony was held at Mater Boni Consilii
Church at Paceville, St. Julians. Five new Officers were admitted into
the Grand Priory and four other members received promotions. Two
members were
admitted to the Companionate of Merit. The event was well attended and
included members of the Commandery of Gozo and the Commandery of the
Castello. The Special Rescue Group - St. Lazarus Corps led the
procession with bagpipes and formed a Guard of Honour. A Gala
reception was afterwards held at the Hilton.

December |
The Patronal Day
dedicated to St. Lazarus of Bethany was commemorated with an
Eurcharistic Service at Our Lady of Victories Church in Valletta. The
service was concelebrated by Fr. G. Grima founder of the Moviment
Missjunarju “Gesu
fil-Proxxmu” and Fr. Th. Moore Senior
Chaplain of the Grand Priory.
The Grand Priory gave a monetary donation to
Fr. Grima in support of his work with lepers in Ethiopia. A Pasta
Buffet was afterwards served at the Osborne Hotel.
