Special Rescue Group –
Saint Lazarus Corps was founded to give help
to all people without any discrimination to Sex, Religion, Nationality
and Political opinions. Its purpose is to protect human life and health
and to ensure respect for the human being thus developing the Body, the
Mind and the Spirit. It is a voluntary relief movement and not prompted
in any way by any desire for any material or any other form of personal
gain.

Step-by-Step Foundation
, a non profit
organisation, with the goal of assisting brain injured children
to reach their full potential. At the time, it was felt that these
children faced two major difficulties, mainly the limited educational
facilities open to them, and the lack of training opportunities
available to prepare them to eventually enter the working world.

The Basilica of St
George at Rabat, Gozo was the collegiate church for the
Confraternity of St Lazarus
and of Charity [est. 1620] and houses a dedicated altar to St Lazarus
embellished by a 1630 painting by Giuseppe D’Arena. The Grand Priory
also
restored an earlier 15th century painting depicting St
Lazarus
kept in the sacristy of the Basilica . The Basilica also houses
a
monument
to Mgr Joseph Pace [Bishop of Gozo: 1945-1972] who was a past honorary
Grand Cross of Merit of the Order.

The Commandery
of the Castello maintains
very close links with The Grand Priory of the Maltese Islands and
shares the use of
Castello
Lanzun for
its activities. |

The Grand Priory of
the Maltese Islands
has established links with the UK-based agency LEPRA supporting
its initiative to collect funds for use in anti-leprosy projects in the
under-developed world. The Grand Priory particularly supports LEPRA
drive to
collect funds through the recycling of mobile phones and used stamps.

The Grand Priory of
the Maltese Islands
has established links with the Oxford-based International Leprosy
Association's Global Project on the History of Leprosy funded by the
Nippon Foundation. The Grand Priory has furnished archivial material
pertaining to the history of leprosy in the Maltese Islands to the
association; this material being summarised on the dedicated webpages
of the ILA.
